Millsverse: one book, three fulfilment platforms, zero manual work

Millsverse is the shared fictional universe and independent publishing imprint of comic writer Pat Mills. We turned a slow, static website into a fast WooCommerce store where every book can be bought as a hardcover, an ebook or a large digital bundle, and each order is fulfilled automatically by the right platform.

The challenge

What wasn’t working

The old Millsverse site ran on a premium theme. It was slow, the layouts were hard to work with, and it was only a static showcase. Lisa Mills wanted a better experience for readers and a store that could sell every book in three formats, each fulfilled by a different service.

Pain points

  • A slow, static website with no real store
  • Every book needed three versions: hardcover, ebook and bundle
  • Each version needed a different fulfilment platform
  • Bundles of around 1 GB per product had to be delivered reliably

Goals

What success looked like

Automatic print orders

A hardcover purchase creates a BookVault order for printing and delivery.

Automatic ebooks

An ebook purchase hands delivery to BookFunnel.

Direct large downloads

Big bundles are delivered securely from the website by WooCommerce.

Our approach

How we did it

A clear, step-by-step process, with the client involved at every review.

  1. Redesign for readers

A clearer, faster, SEO-friendly design with dynamic book pages.

  2. Model the three formats

Each book became one WooCommerce product with hardcover, ebook and bundle variations.

  3. Connect three platforms

Each variation routes its order to BookVault, BookFunnel or a WooCommerce download.

  4. Test every path

We tested each format end to end so no order ever needs manual handling.

The solution

What we built

BookVault print on demand

Hardcover orders are created in BookVault automatically for printing and delivery.

BookFunnel ebook delivery

Ebook buyers get their files through BookFunnel, which handles the rest.

Large bundle downloads

Bundles of around 1 GB per product are delivered securely by WooCommerce.

Tracking and marketing

All tracking and marketing platforms are connected to support paid campaigns.

Results

What changed for the business

A single product now connects to three platforms, and every order is fulfilled automatically, so the client never processes an order by hand. The site is faster, SEO-friendly and easier to use. We’ve provided monthly maintenance for more than two years and help with paid marketing, and the client is very happy with the partnership.
